Reporting directly to the CEO, this role provides both strategic and operational leadership, overseeing a multidisciplinary portfolio that may include Inpatient Units, Emergency Services, Discharge Planning, Patient Flow, Clinical Education, Infection Prevention and Control, Patient Experience, and Quality Improvement.
Working collaboratively with physicians, clinical leaders, and staff, the Director promotes patient-centered care and system integration, ensuring alignment with the hospital’s mission, values, and strategic priorities.
Qualifications
Education: College diploma in a health-related field required; bachelor’s degree is an asset. Equivalent education and leadership experience may be considered.
Experience: Minimum 5 years in clinical leadership, preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting.
Skills: Proven ability to lead inter-professional teams and cross-departmental projects. Strong in quality improvement, change management, and system thinking.
Language: Bilingual in French and English with excellent written and communication skills.
Leadership: Skilled in decision-making, conflict resolution, and collaborative leadership.
Knowledge: Familiarity with Ontario’s health system, regional networks, and relevant legislation.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care Leadership
Provide leadership for patient care services with a focus on safety, efficiency, and quality.
Oversee the development and implementation of care policies, standards, and performance measures.
Lead change management initiatives related to clinical operations and care models.
Collaboration and Strategic Alignment
Collaborate with clinical leaders and program managers to align care with best practices and strategic goals.
Support service planning initiatives to improve patient flow, discharge planning, and transitions of care.
Quality Improvement and Safety
Partner with the Quality and Risk team to monitor patient safety indicators and implement corrective actions.
Identify and support opportunities for service quality enhancement and risk mitigation.
Ensure compliance with legislation, accreditation standards, and professional regulations.
Patient Advocacy and Experience
Advocate for patient rights and the overall patient experience.
Ensure patient feedback is gathered, reviewed, and acted upon to improve services.
Staff Development and Engagement
Promote staff engagement and foster a culture of professional development and accountability.
Support organizational health and safety initiatives and contribute to a culture of continuous learning.
